Medalist

An honors info email went out today, and it said that medalist scholarship winners will be notified in early march, and then they get to compete for presidential in April…this sounds different from past years, as it appears that there is no official competition for Medalist this year…is this what others infer as well?

do you have to interview for either scholarship?

I thought that in the past you had to interview for both, but it appears that there is no interview for the Medalist this year…but still interview for Presidential.

This is some information I received in an email today:

“Students admitted to the Honors Program are incontention for the Medalist and Presidential Scholarships. The Medalist Scholarship is valued at the full cost of in-state tuition; there are 50 Medalist Scholarships awarded. The Presidential Scholarship is valued at the cost of education; there are 15 Presidential Scholarships awarded. Currently, there are approximately 2,000 students in contention for the Medalist and Presidential Scholarships. Typically, students with a 32+ ACT or 1420+ SAT (critical reading and math) and in the top 3% of their high school classes are the prime contenders for these scholarships.Students awarded the Medalist Scholarships will be notified in early March 2012. A subset of the Medalist Scholarship awardees will be invited to Scholarship Interview Weekend (April 1-2, 2012) to compete for the Presidential Scholarships.”

This is the same email I referred to in the first post of this thread.

Got it! Thanks. Good luck on this scholarship.

thanks! Best of wishes

Hmmmm
Our son was admitted, but we’ve not received the same email. I don’t know if that means anything or not.

When did you get the message? How long after you were notified of Honors acceptance?

thanks

I received this email on either tuesday or wednesday of this past week. I was notified of Honors acceptance on January 6th.
