I know its a capped major, but how hard is it to get in? My first choice is economics, but that is capped as well. I hate to keep my backup major as another capped major, but if Media Studies isn't too difficult to get into, I may go for it. any opinions?

Yep, MS is a much easier major to get into. Econ. has a more intensive process where you actually have to wait a while before you hear from them. For MS, all you have to do is the meet the prereqs and have decent grades (around 3.0 for the 4 prereqs). You apply for MS by filling out a form and talking to one of the people there who sign you up relatively quickly (after your prereqs are completed, of course).

Compared to Economics, Media Studies is probably a little easier to get into. You do have to do the 4 prerequisites, but you have to have a 3.2 GPA or better in those courses + any other courses that fall into the major. Once you have them done, you can apply, and if you meet the GPA mark, then you’ll automatically get in. If you’re below it, you can appeal, which wouldn’t be too difficult to get in either if you prove that you’re working towards the major and have a solid essay describing what you want to get in.
