ok well I'm going into premed, hut i want a business major.
a friend told me tyat u need 2 majors for premed, one in premed, one in sonething else as a backup. I need a confirmation, will this add past 4 undergrad years?

Premed is not a major. There are prerequisite classes you need to take in order to apply to most medical schools. You can major in whatever you want (in fact medical schools encourage you to do so) but need to find a way to include the pre req classes. Obviously some majors will make it easier to fit in the pre reqs than others - but the best thing is to major in what interests you (something you might be happy to pursue if med school does not happen) and fit the pre reqs in somehow.

Pre reqs vary for each medical school but a rough idea is
1 year inorganic Chemistry
1 year organic chemistry
1 year physics with lab
Biology with lab
1 year Math - sometimes through Calc 2
English
Sometimes humanities
(obviously you would need to check with schools you are interested in)

Several of these are gen ed requirements for many majors (English/humanities/math/a science with lab) so the actual extra classes if you are not a science major are not that many.
