<p>A medical anthropologist is an anthropologist who specializes in the study of the interactions of culture and society with issues of health and healthcare. It is an interdisciplinary field that studies the intersection of sociocultural, environmental and biological factors in health issues. </p>

<p>Some examples of things medical anthropologists do: study of cultures that produce multigenerational drug addiction, the effects of poverty and racial stratification on the prevalence of genetic diseases, how cultural or familial factors affect the success of psychiatric treatment, the role of humanitarian intervention in the alleviation of intercultural violence.</p>

<p>Most jobs for medical anthropologists require a PhD. </p>
