so im reporting back to usafa after being medically turned back last year with partial tears on both my MCL, and ACL, and a torn meniscus which was subsequently removed. My orders are to report, and enter with the class of 2011, provided i pass the medical exam. I was told that i would be having the medical exam upon arriving, not here at home before i left. What worries me is that after looking around, i noticed that ACL tears, or a history of knee problems is grounds for being medically disqualified. The fact that my meniscus was not repairable, and had to be removed was not known by the academy doctors when they turned me back, so it was never brought up. My knee is about 100% now, i can run etc. but because my knee is essentially bone to bone every step i take is one step closer to my eventual knee replacement. I have had no contact with dodmerb or the medical people at the academy, other then them clarifying that my exam will take place when i arrive on the 28th. Is there a chance im gonna show up on the 28th and be sent packing?

It's possible. I really don't have any experience with this situation. It is surprising that DoDMERB or the academy didn't arrange an exam before (at least to me).

i thought the same thing, which is why i called and made sure i wasnt supposed to have one here. but my surgeon was a civilian, and he wouldnt have forwarded any reports about my surgery to the academy whithout my having requested it, and the academy never asked for it.
