Medical insurance

is it true that Brown doesn’t cover medical insurance and that this is $2000/year? or at least for intls… pls answer me…

I'm not sure exactly how it works for international students... but I'm from out of state and I just stayed on my family's insurance. It's worked out fine so far.

yeah, but I would have to pay it because I'm an intl...and anyway in Romania there is anoher system...meaning the medical insurance money is taken directly from our parents' salaries...so...it's not something private...they do that to all the people that have salalries...anyway...I saw on Brown's website something about 2300 and something... that's pretty much...

yea... its like 2300 a year for insurance. umm... and then you have a co-pay i think, so anytime you go to the doctor's you have to pay like 10 dollars, but not if you go to the university health services. that is free... in a sense. i mean u did pay for it out of the 40K u threw at em.

ok.... thanks. I gues I'll have to stick with their insurance in case I get in....oh well, this is :(
but just so that is it absolutely clear, this insurance is out of their tuition, boarding and "so on" packet and therefore out of the fin aid packet, meaning they won't include this into the fn aid, will they?

no, this isnt included in financial aid, and the full amount of the insurance is due before August 1st. Thats also when the Fall tuition s due.

ok. thanks a lot. :)
[mailed my ED app today :D]

Lakshmi: As an intl., what makes you so sure that you are going to get good fin aid from Brown anyway?

first of all, I really hope. second of all, I hope that if they can't give me the fin aid they won't admit me. third of all, someone I know got in last year with aproximately the same need of fin aid. (as I said...I'm not 100% sure. but I least can hope :) )
