Niquii77, the thing is, pot is a much less addicting/harmful way to go to sleep. Im not a big fan of the pharma industry. But I’m definitely not against it, it does more good than harm (retail cost aside… baastards). Also, legality isn’t the issue. I’ve obtained a rec a while ago, so its within my legal bounds to possess it. The school’s policy is the tough part.

I am not sure what you are looking for.

You signed a legally binding contract to rent a dorm room. By signing the contract, you are legally bound to the terms of the contract. Breaking the terms of the contract means that the school can kick you out of the dorms with no refund. Now the question is will the school enforce the rules. Hard for anybody here to give a good answer. Your RA might look the other way if no one complains. If someone does he will probably have to take some action since he is hired in part to enforce the rules. So roll the dice if you want. Best case, you sleep at night. Worst case, you have no place to sleep.

As for the pharma industry I share some of your views. I predict that the pot industry will end up being a VERY big industry. It is clearly headed that way.

You do realize that pot is a drug. Not as fully tested or as quality controlled as a prescription drug. It is a shame that the government hasn’t loosen the restrictions enough for this drug to be developed and properly tested. It seems to have a lot of potential.

Ask them first.

There is a pill form of THC that you can get at the dispensaries if you are worried about the smell.

I don’t know the rules, but my guess is that you could get in trouble.

That being said, I feel like it’s important to talk about the likelihood of getting caught. I mean, technically you’re not supposed to have alcohol in dorm rooms either, but it’s not like that stops people. In general, I think most RAs look the other way as long as you’re not causing problems. In my dorm last year (and also in the dorms of my friends at other schools), the RAs really never came in, and as long as you kept your contraband out of sight, there were no problems. I would assume it would be the same with medical marijuana. Obviously it would be nice if you didn’t have to hide it, but if you’re already planning to not smoke in the room, I don’t think it will be that big of a deal. Like, I wouldn’t leave it sitting out on your nightstand, but as long as you keep it tucked away and your roommate doesn’t decide to go snitch to the RA, I think you won’t have to worry.

Try posting on the Berkeley section. A lot of students check there who can give you some better advice.
