Medical Programs for African-Americans?

Does anybody know any good medical programs for african-americans. A diverse medical program? A program that will pay for medical school for an African-American? A regular 4 year program? A six or 7 year program? HBCUS don't count (i.e Howard, Meharry Moorehouse).

It really depends on your stats. With pretty high scores there could be a lot of options.

Hi lialee,

I’d check out common BS/MD programs in the forum here:
[Multiple Degree Programs - College Confidential](Multiple Degree Programs - College Confidential Forums)

You can look at each program and see how it is in terms of diversity and financial aid.
Hope this helps!

Below are some top Medical schools with a high precentage of underrepresented minorities, mostly African and Hispanic Americans.

Columbia University Medical School 20%
Cornell University Medical School 23%
Duke University Medical School 25%
Harvard University Medical School 20%
University of California-Los Angeles Medical School 25%
University of California-San Francisco Medical School 30%

I don’t know if this is the kind of thing you are asking about, but my wife used to work here [NCHCAP: North Carolina Health Careers Access Program](NCHCAP) It is an advising community for minority students who want to go into clinical or scientific careers. They run various clubs (eg. premedical students club), community health fairs, summer training programs, physician shadowing and so on. This particular resource is at UNC but certainly other state universities who place an importance on diversity would have cognate offices.
