The University Scholars Program in Medicine is not a merit scholarship program. It is about being admitted to the Medical School as an undergrad and has some benefits associated with the Medical School as an undergrad.</p>
<p>You needed to be recommended for the Danforth Scholarship. From the Wash U web site:
Each summer a call for nominations goes out to high school guidance counselors. Nominations are due by October 15, 2011.</p>
