Dear Pre-Health Students,
You are cordially invited to the 13th annual McCollough Medical Scholars Forum held on February 6-7 in Shelby Hall rotunda on the University of Alabama campus.
The McCollough Medical Scholars Forum, sponsored by UA’s College of Arts and Sciences, was established by Alabama physician Dr. Gaylon McCollough and his wife, Susan. Both are UA alumni. The Forum’s aim is to emphasize the importance of liberal arts educations in the study and practice of medicine. Students have an opportunity to engage in conversation with our guest speakers, invited health care professionals and guests of the College, and faculty members regarding humanistic and social issues in medicine.
Governor Robert Bentley, a graduate of The University of Alabama School of Medicine and current Governor for the State of Alabama, will present our opening lecture on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m., followed by dinner with our students at 5:45 p.m. in the Shelby Hall rotunda. Dr. E. Gaylon McCollough will lead our forum on Saturday morning and continue our discussion on the interface of the liberal arts and medicine.
The weekend events during the forum include:
-
Two keynote addresses with discussion to follow
-
A 3rd and 4th year medical student panel
-
A tour of the Bryant Museum
-
Meaningful discussions with community healthcare providers
-
And more!
Register to attend the event at http://prehealth.ua.edu/other-resources/mccollough-medical-scholars-forum-3/ .
