Medical School Applications

Does anyone have a suggestion for how early to send in applications? Should I get everything prepared for the day the application opens and send it in as soon as possible or is there any benefit to waiting (especially for schools who do not make rolling admissions decisions)?

there is no benefit to “waiting.” It’s better to do a good job than to get it in early, but if you can send AMCAS in on the day it opens there is no reason not to.

Also, keep in mind that first you submit AMCAS which must be processed for some schools to send you a secondary (some schools will send it to you as soon as you submit). Most schools seem to send anyone who applies a secondary (more money for them) but there are some (notably UCSF) that actually evaluate you based on AMCAS before deciding to send you a secondary. I write all of this to highlight that in terms of “day one” all you’ll have access to is AMCAS. Your school specific applications will roll in at a variable rate after that. Again, the sooner you get them turned around the better.
