I am a rising junior with a 3.43 GPA. I am a chemisstry major with a biology minor.
I have over 100 hours of vollunteering at a hospital, shadowed an oncologist for 3 weeks, and a pediatrician for 3 weeks. I have also interned with a orthopedic in a civil hospital in india. I also am a certified EMT and plan on working with the EMT at my college next semester.
I have also done two summers of chemistry research with a global company and started doing materials chemistry research in college last semester.
I am also a tour guide at my college.
I have not taken the MCAT yet
What are my chances of geting into a medical school? My low GPa is freaking me out!

Post this question on the med school forum where you will likely get some good advice. They will know better and direct you to site with GPA/MCAT scores.

Hopefully you will get into med school but I do know some kids that were not accepted and had to retake the MCAT and reapply (and then did get in). Any backup plans may not be a bad idea. Grad school for PA, prosthetics, etc.

Good luck to you.

what is your bcmp GPA?

You need to do a couple of things…

1) boost your BCMP gpa by taking more of those classes…whatever you can get As in. This will boost both the cum and bcmp gpa.

2) do a glide year…which means applying after senior year…this will give you 4 semesters to boost your GPA.

what is your home state?

when are you taking the MCAT

I’m sorry, is bcmp the same as your science gpa?
And I’m planning on taking the Mcat in January 2015. I have heard getting at least a 30 makes you competitive??
And my home state is North Carolina

Thanks!

Yes, bcmp is science…bio chem math physics…BCMP

getting at least a 30 with a higher gpa makes you competitive. right now, your gpa is lowish.
