(If you're in a hurry and want to cut to the chase, refer to the last line)

So. All my life I wanted to be an equine vet...until I saw vets graduate with an average of 300,000 dollars in loans, and make an average of 20,000-45,000 dollars per year. I don't want to pick or ditch a career solely because of the salary, but if I spend the time and money on a doctorate, I'd like to be able to live at least somewhat comfortably. I don't need millions, but I'd like to be able to afford a horse and a comfortable life for any future kids. A salary of 50K+ at least if we're talking about a doctorate.

I considered becoming an emergency doctor for various personal reasons. I shadowed a few doctors, found it fascinating, and really felt like I could see myself making this my career. However, before I focus my entire undergrad years on preparing for med school, I want to keep my options open and look into other science/medical related careers as well. I love research, but I love working with people too...having a job that offers a sense of purpose and allows me to serve others is extremely important.

That said, what are some options worth looking into?
