Medical Withdrawal and Application for Next Year

This semester, I've experienced some medical problems which have made it difficult for me to do things like attend class and complete assignments as well as just, in general, take care of myself. Because of this, I will be medically withdrawing from my university. I'm going to take next semester off while I try to sort out my medical issues and get my life back in control, and hopefully start school back up in the fall.

I'm currently a Freshman. When I medically withdraw, I will receive no credit for any of the classes I attended at this university, and only my transfer credit from AP classes will remain. Basically, I'll still be a Freshman in the Fall.

Because of this, is it possible for me to apply to different schools as a Freshman applicant instead of a transfer applicant?

If it is possible, those other school might want to know what you’ve been up to the past year, so be prepared to address the issue.

Your best answer will come from calling admissions of any school you’re interested in and asking them directly about your situation. Might as well be upfront about it and get the best advice possible on how to do it the right way.

Truth. Some colleges will consider you a transfer, others a freshman applicant. Be up front and ask.
