Medieval Studies Acceptance?

I am a Medieval Studies (Interdisciplinary Studies) rising sophomore with a 4.0 gpa from USouthCarolina. I am interested in studying Christianization (specifically of the Germanic tribes) in the Medieval world and the relationship between the various Indo-European derived religions. I am hoping to apply for Phd or MA programs like Cornell, Toronto, Oxford, Leeds, UChicago, etc. My question is, how competitive are these programs and what does an accepted applicant look like?

My Expected Languages by Application time:
Latin (4 years)
German (3 years)
Old English (1 year)
Norse (1 year)

Research (beginning my Sophomore year):
Examination of the justification of the old gods held by Snorri in the Prose Edda

Will I have a chance if I continue this path?

can anyone help me with this? it would be much appreciated…

My guess is that, yes, you have a chance, but this is a question better answered by your advisor. In fact, the sooner your advisor knows that you intend to go to graduate school, the better. So far, you’ve done everything right; however, I’m sure that the narrow range of the speciality makes admissions to PhD programs extremely competitive.
