Does anyone know how hard it is to get into Medill vs Weinberg?

or just anything about Medill in general

I am only going on hearsay, but I would guess that Medill is harder to get into. Weinberg is larger so it may be slightly easier to get into. Like I said, not that I really know, but I believe is one of, if not the top program in the country.

Weinberg has higher stats. We don’t know the answer. But Medill is probably not as hard to get in as some may think.

I spent the summer at the journalism program at Medill and interviewed the program director (who was the assistant dean for many years) and two admissions officers. Medill is more selective–they accept less than 200 students a year, but they only receive 2000-3000 applicants a year.

r250318 and Sam Lee are both right in that Medill “had” a historically lower, more selective, acceptance rate than WCAS but SAT scores that were slightly lower. Overall, probably very little difference in overall competitiveness.

The “had” proviso here is important in that NU hasn’t broken down individual school admit stats for the past few years, probably, in part, hoping to direct applicants to the undergrad college that represents the best fit, not the greatest acceptance probability.

r250318 - also note that Medill historically ENROLLS ~ 175 kids yearly. They ADMIT/ACCEPT probably closer to 300 (though this number may be shrinking with ED numbers up).
