Did you apply to the Medill school of Journalism? If so, what are your stats like?

soooo, does this mean not a lot of people did? lol since im getting 0 comments

i did. my stats kinda blow for NW standards and im not expecting to get in.

-top 8% in HS in a class of 1000+
-hardest courses offered (i guess im a high 80s-low 90s kinda guy)
-1520 or 2250 on sat depending on if you include writing

lol your SATs are amazing..... what are u talking about!?!?!?!?! lol and your GPA or whatever isnt that bad either. -_- wowwww. lol

haha thanks but in comparison to my school and the effort that i put into my work im not gona expect to get in.

i got into UT journalism anyways and so im not worried about college admissions anymore. if i do get into nw we should meet up and go clubbing for like 17 days straight because i will be ecstatic as hell.

good luck to you tho!

AHHAHAHAH. sounds like a plan :D but thanks... Im not expecting to get in either. but Im still hoping.... Btw, does Syracuse have a good journalism program? if so, how good is it? Cause I got into Syracuse, but Im not sure how good it is....

syracuse is FREAKING amazing for journalism but idk if u wanna pay 45k for it. i got into it with scholarship money but overall its not a uni worth paying that much for. however, if you can afford it then its just as good as medill for journo.

the thing i liked about nw tho is that all their schools are almost if not the best at what they do. syracuse was amazing in a few depts, but the rest is okay.

the fact that i got into my state school's journalism program (which is pretty good) and it wud cost me 1/3 of syracuse really geared me away from going there. it mite be different for u. you should definitely go visit it tho if ur really interested.

hey i applied to northwestern and syracuse too seems like you're into journalism.. you wouldn't have to apply to annenberg in usc would you? cause we would have a lot in common :D

well im a comm major and Syracuse was my third choice behind those two
its a great school especially for our majors but its a s**t hole to live in and my parents don't think its worth the 42k/year they want me to stay in state with the UC's

as for NU admission.. I think Medill is insane to get in I only applied into their Comm Studies program because I know I'll flat out get rejcted good stats are a given if you're applying what are your ECs and essays about

i applied to medill too, but i've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that i'm not getting in, lol. my GPA's not great and my SAT score's nowhere near toronto's.

i've heard newhouse is a pretty good j-school, although the overall school itself isn't amazing. that's why i loved NU - even if you want to change your major later, all the other fields are just as reputable as journalism.

hey bro i applied to syracuse, nw, usc journalism too. provided i would get into all three, nw is the only one that would be worth the money for me.

im too lazy to post up my ec's in depth, but it was geared to alot of community service, FBLA, debate, and other random crap.

my common app essay was pretty unique and funny. im not sure about my recs cuz i was the goofy kid that teachers loved so it could go either way for me in that department. my counselor loved me tho and knows me pretty damn well.

hahaha joeyjoey, I did apply to Annenberg too :D lol how funny... but the sad thing is, I havent heard back from USC or NW (obviously). lol. My EC's are pretty basic- Im President of SAT mentorship program at my school, Peer mediator for three years, Co-president of Children's Hospital Guild, Junior Statesman of America, National Merit Qualifier, Yearbook.... IDk lol. Im a pretty boring person, except I think my essays were really good. My main essay was about my Mom and how I found out during junior year that my "mom" was not my true biological mom.... It was super personal and moving i guess. lol so yeah.... how about u guys?

Would you all agree that Medill is the hardest NU school to get into? Also does Medill get the most apps or is it Weinberg?

***fffff. really?? I didnt realize Medill received so many apps. GREAT

I always felt that school of music was hardest to get into: This year, there were 1200-1300 applicants for an entering class of 100.

Wow. Where'd you get those statistics? Those daunting numbers null any hope I ever had of getting into NU.

Right from the mouth of the director of music admissions... most likely they will hopefully accept about 300, assuming a 33% yield, but who knows.

Yeah, that's still pretty bad. Good luck!

I applied to Medill, and my stats aren't too great (and I mean, actually not too great, not College Confidential Ivy Forum not too great). If I don't get in, which is highly probable, I will be upset just because I really want to go to Northwestern. I didn't apply to any other undergraduate journalism programs because my future plans are... complicated. Eh, I'll figure it out if/when I get rejected.

I also applied to USC, NW, and Syracuse...

I had my hopes on USC actually. It was like:

1 USC

994,329 Everything else.

Even with scholarships it panned out as way too expensive. My parents might be willing to foot the bill for NW, though, as it has a better rep. crosses fingers

haha anna i got annenberg on Tuesday :D im relieved hopefully NU still takes me

hope to see you on campus!
