How hard is it to get into Medill compared to the other schools at Northwestern? I have journalism experience (school newspaper, internship wiht a local newspaper) and I am very interested in journalism, but I want to go to law school and become a lawyer. Should I not apply to Medill if I don't want to become a journalist?

In terms of average SAT, I believe it looks like this:
Engineering>WCAS=Medill>Communication>Music=Education

Tons of people in Medill are planning on going to law school. An undergrad journalism education is a good jumping off point to graduate law study.

Does anyone know admission statistics for Medill? What percent of the applicants are accepted?

It's almost impossible to transfer to Medill, so you should apply there if that's your school of choice.

it's definitely harder to get into medill, and if you don't want to be a journalist your chances might be better applying to weinberg

I am not sure if Medill is really harder to get into. Although Medill is the most competitive J-school in the country, other colleges within NU are also pretty competitive. For the class of 2007 (2 years ago), the SAT stats of both schools are: Medill:V705, M679 (total:1384); Weinberg: V695, M713 (total:1408). Of course, one can argue Medill looks far beyond test scores. We are also missing admit rates by school.
