This increase in journalism applications is surprising, as few people in today’s marketplace seem willing to pay for decent reporting. I hope these students are independently wealthy or that they look forward to a rewarding future by living off of a trust fund set up by a grandparent. Learn a useful trade on the side.
Maybe, @MinnesotaDadof3 , they’re applying to the " Integrated Marketing Communications" part of the school, to learn how they can leverage being Instagram Influencers into a real job.
What do you project as the longevity of Instagram? My best wishes to them all.
@MinnesotaDadof3 Actually, here at Northwestern our Journalism school frequently works with the engineering program and entrepreneurship program to make some awesome projects Medill grads are well prepared once they graduate. We aren’t learning how to sell teas on Instagram. But since you asked, if you go on LinkedIn, you will see that Medill does have several graduates working for Instagram. At Instagram HQ. Hopefully there is longevity working there I imagine they’ll be set for a while.
