hey guys. i have finally narrowed down all my colleges to 2..syracuse (newhouse) and Northwestern (medill school of journalism). i am interested in broadcast. both schools are ranked top schools. can anyone tell me any major differences between the two? like people i will make connections with, programs, students, everything. thanks. i really appreciate it!

The only thing I know is Northwestern is considered one of the elite schools as a whole whereas Syracuse isn't even though their broadcast program is probably as good as Northwestern's, if not better. I think you should visit both places and then decide. If you are very sure you will major in broadcasting, just pick whichever gives you better fit. But if you are not sure, I can see the advantage of going to Northwestern as it has good reputation and top programs in many other fields in case you switch out of journalism.

I went online and watched NNN (northwestern Nightly news) and was unimpressed. are these broadcasts from classes or is this a club where anyone can join and broadcast?

I think it's a student-run club.

http://www.nnntv.org/index.php?page=join

And it looks like anyone can apply to join.

Northwestern #1
