medill waitlist chances

Does anyone have any idea the rate of acceptance from the Medill waitlist?

I would assume it to be much higher OR much lower then the other schools, chiefly because:

People are more likely to attend because it's the #1 journalism school in the country.

OR

People are less likely to attend because many would've changed their minds about concentrating strictly on journalism.

What do you think?

That was exactly the issue that my daughter faced. When she applied to Medill, she was sure she would concentrate on journalism, and Medill is the best. Over the last several months, she has become more convinced that she will get a broader undergraduate degree and concentrate on journalism in grad school - if that is still her passion. Based on that line of thinking, even if she had gotten into Medill (she was waitlisted as well), she probably would not have gone.

On the other hand, if she had gotten in, she wasn't sure she could have turned it down. She loved the overall campus environment and was attracted to the concept of going to the number 1 school in her field (something about ego, I believe).

Fortunately (?), we don't have that problem anymore.
