I am a international school student from Beijing and I take the IB MYP program. I just received my semester grades: five 6s, and four 5s(everything out of 7). I take Math, English, Chinese, Science, History, Geography, Design Technology, Physical Education, and Drama. I got 5s for Geography, History, Design Technology, and Drama. I am very worried because a 5 out of 7 sounds like a C in the GPA system.

I am applying to GLADCHEMMS.

I got 87% on the SSATs.

it depends which schools you are applying to exactly. i was an applicant to exeter and like you, i came from a IB myp school. my grades were mostly sixes, a couple of sevens, one five and a four. i still managed to make it into exeter! just remember that grades are definitely not the only thing that they look at.

I believe the direct translation from IB to US scores (at least this is what I was told by my humanities teacher) 7=A++ 6=A 5=B+ 4=B-

plus, IB is harder. I know straight A students in the states who got 50-60% on their SSAT, while I had one 7, four 6s, three 5s and a 4 but I got 94th%

Thank you so much for your answers. They are very helpful.
