I’ve been looking at few medium sized schools with big time athletics, but they all seem to be in the top of my academic range. So far I’ve looked at Vandy, Duke, Wake, and BC. Are there similar schools with this combination of a medium size but passionate athletic base?
Which sport? Football? Basketball? What?

How much will your parents pay each year???
There are small/med Catholic colleges that have big sports, but usually Basketball.
What is your home state?
Lehigh
Villanova
What do you consider medium sized?
@Mom2kids ACT is now a 33 with superscore (Didn’t have that in time for other schools), I’m from the mid-atlantic and parents won’t need financial aid.
Colgate? I guess that’s smaller school with athletics that are D1 and strong in some sports.
Syracuse…Great for a number of majors, dual programs, and AP/IB/CLEP credit.
Good luck.
U Dayton
Which sport? Basketball? Football? Both???
And what is your major and career goal??
If your interest is football…
Boston College?
Notre Dame?
UMiami (or is that too big?)
USC (or is that too big)
SMU
Baylor
TCU
Vandy
Tulane
Lafayette, Lehigh, Bucknell, Colgate, Georgetown although most are a little smaller. Villanova, St. Joe’s, Notre Dame?
Out of the schools you listed, Wake is probably least selective (but obviously still very selective). So, here are some schools with pretty big athletics (as big as you’re gonna get for a medium-selective priv. school):
NY: St. John’s, Fordham, NYU, Colgate (pretty selective, but you have a 33 - should be good)
PA: Lehigh, Laf, Bucknell, Villanova, St. Joseph’s
CT: Fairfield (safety?), Sacred Heart, UConn (pub.)
VA: RICHMOND!!, UVA (pub.)
NC: UNC (reach), Davidson (little small)
Others: TCU, Marquette, Notre Dame, Gtown, Tulane, 'Cuse
Northwestern
oh and Holy Cross
Thank you all so much for these, I’m going to check them out!
Clemson has around 17K undergrads and around 4500 grad students, so on the top end for medium sized or the low end for large sized, and big time athletics. Strong academics too, with a nice honors program, although not sure of deadlines or whether you are a senior.

Have to second the Clemson suggestion! While it is not super selective it has a pretty good academic reputation. As I’m sure you know their football team is doing amazing at the moment, and has commitments from the best QB’s for the next two years. Their other athletics depends on the team, but if your looking for a passionate fan-base, the tiger fans are crazy.
Clemson! Huge athletics, and has a decent amount of people, but the campus feels small and homey!
