Has anyone done the Meet USC deal and have annny information on it?

We did this when my son was looking. It was worth the time. The business school presentation was a little dry, but the campus tour portion was very good. I don't know if it would be worth flying across country just for this one visit though.

Most school visits do not give you any more information than you can find on their websites, but they can give you a good "feel" for the school. We left with a better impression than we expected and my son is now a senior at SC.

Its only a 40 mile drive :)

thank you, at least I don't think I will be wasting my time like I felt at UCSD

I didn't attend this, but I used to give tours for that for the School of Architecture when I was a student. I really wish I'd gone to it, I had no idea about any of the stuff they had us telling those kids when I was choosing schools!

So if, when I requested my date, and said I was an interested Business Major, I will also go through a Business Presentation and whatnot?

what else is part of it?

Typically, you will get a school specific information session at the end of the campus tour and general information session. It will be a smaller group and you will have the opportunity then to ask more questions.

USC will have their Fall Open House on Nov. 19th.

They also offer optional interviews. you can request one at usc.edu/admissioninterviews (I think you might need to wait another week or so for the website to be updated for this year) My understanding is that the interview really is optional, but if you feel that there might be information about you that won't be conveyed on the application or you have more questions, it could be helpful. My current SC student did not do an admission interview. If my high school senior has time when he is out there, he probably will.

ya I went today... and All I have to say is that I LOVED the place. The whole experience was better than my UCSD tour. It was nice to get a whole rundown and tour of Marshall in a group consisting of Me and One other student (and parent). Overall, it was a great experience and worth all the traffic getting there
The only hard part...

is choosing between USC and UCLA ;)

My son loves it there! Good Luck!

Meet USC was definitely more fulfilling than the average "campus tour" even though the day i went was one of the busiest they'd had in a long time (it was spring break). the fact that you get to go to the department of your choice was great, i learned a LOT about their film program

My son was always interested in USC, among other CA campuses. We went for Meet USC, on-campus interview and then again after acceptance to Explore USC. Each time was a different experience. Being on campus gave him the feel of whether he would like it there or not. Each time he came back on a big USC high. Now he will be moving in next Wednesday to start his Freshman Year. It was meant to be!

My advice is to attend several times. Best wishes on the year to come!

I second the recommendation to visit. Although we are fairly local my daughter had applied at the last minute and it wasn't initially high on her list (she initially wanted a smaller school). We went to an admitted students' day and wow! we were unexpectedly so impressed. The visit really changed our outlook on her college selection process. We went again to the admitted students' reception at the end of April and loved it again and put down the deposit that day.
