Meeting Conditions of Admission

The most commonly held belief of American colleges is that all you need to do is pass high school to hold on to your offer of acceptance. Do I by any chance face the risk of my offer becoming rescinded if my grades aren’t satisfactory?

Yes. You face that risk.

Have you considered actually reading the things Berkeley sends?

Most UCs, including Berkeley, are more explicit about what the conditions of admission are compared to many other schools. These conditions are included in the admission offers. You can find many threads about them.

@JustOneDad

LOL. That comment was a great way to start my day off.

To the OP, why don’t you define for us what not “satisfactory” is? To some, that’s an A- or B. To others, that’s a C or D.

Berkeley’s definition of unsatisfactory high school senior year academic performance has been reported by other posters as getting less than a 3.0 unweighted GPA in senior year, getting any D or F grades, or previously unreported schedule changes.

@ucbalumnus Thing is I am an international student and I have studied under the British curriculum. I am aware that I am required o have a gpa of 3.0/average grade of B and not more than one C or below. But I wondered if the conditions would apply differently for me since our curriculum is significantly different from the AP/IB.

@briank82 I have given my A levels in four subjects, I am not sure if you are familiar with the curriculum. Would grades of ABBC be alright to meet the condition of a gpa 3.0 for UC Berkeley?

You should ask directly how your British grades correspond to US grades for the purpose of meeting the conditions.
