Meeting new people over the summer?

<p>So, summer has officially started and I'm really BORED. My friends are all going out of the country/working/whatever and I don't have any cool plans nor was I able to get anybody to hire me. I'm really up for some socialness and want to branch out and meet interesting new people, like people who don't attend my school.</p>

<p>What are some ways in which a teenager could meet some other teenagers/college-aged people over the summer without joining summer programs or whatever? I don't have money. And I've definitely tried applying to about a thousand places in hopes of landing a job, but that didn't bring good end results..</p>
