Meeting People

Is it easy to meet other students with there being a lack of traditional campus? What about if your in one of the dorms that is a good bit farther away from the center of the school? Anyone have any experiences to share?

you just have to be open and seek out people directly.

As a freshman, it is probably better to dorm at the traditional dorms around Washington Square, because the concentration of freshman are there. Also, a very good way to meet other people are the clubs and individual dorm happenings.

I’m applying as a transfer and that’s why I’m wondering because I know we get last choice in housing

So if you are not a freshman, choose the dorms around Union Square. They are large and house a very large number of upperclassemen. Palladium has a gym, dining room and is right in the square where there are many things going on. Also clubs are the way to go.

join clubs, talk to strangers, don’t be afraid to be outgoing, silly, playful, random. i have discovered recently how friendly and open people are in new york under the hard outer shell that most people wear.
also if you are in tisch you will meet lots of people no problem. if not - clubs, events, study groups, things related to your areas of interest.

just to clarify: talk to strangers you’d like to be friends with, don’t talk to strangers in a dangerous way. and definitely don’t waste any time talking to that homeless guy who sits outside delion.
