Meeting with college debate coach

I have been in contact with people from one of my safety schools (which I'm really thinking about going to even if I get accepted to my other colleges). I'm really interested in joining a debate team in college, so I contacted this college's debate coach.

I have been emailing him back and forth all day today. We are now going to meet Tuesday in his office, then go watch one of the team's practices. I'm REALLY nervous! We meet 30mintues before the practice starts (so idk what we'll talk about for that long). Also I don't know what to wear to this meeting. Also I'm nervous about him giving me a tour around the campus. I sweat like SUPER EASILY and its so super embarrassing!!!

Could someone PLEASE give me some advice on this situation?

Someone please help

I don’t know if you’re a boy or a girl, so as generic advice I would say wear what you would wear if you were going to a nice restaurant. It’s always better to be slightly overdressed than underdressed.

You are worrying too much about this. 30 minutes is not a long time to talk. I imagine the coach will tell you about to history of the team, the steps required to join, and so on. He might ask why you are interested in debate and what experience you have so far. You ought to have some questions ready to ask about the team. If you have not had an interview before then practicing a bit might be a good idea. Get any book about job interviews and have a parent or friend ask you some of the questions. You’ll see it’s not that hard, and 30 minutes goes by pretty quickly.

As for a tour around campus, is this something he mentioned? If not, I doubt this is something that’s going to happen. He is not the campus tour guide, he is the debate coach. The admission office typically handles the tourers. My bet is you meet for 30 minutes to talk, walk over to watch a practice, and then you’re on your own,

I’m a male. Thank you for the advice. I guess I am freaking out over nothing, but I hate first impressions…I always suck at them…
