Melanie Oudin

Next American tennis beast. She mentally destroys her opponents. She's not even hot but a definite 1. Oh yeah.

Anybody know her?

No, she really can’t be number one. Mentally a lot of women are midgets, but she really has no chance against the Williams sisters. Petrova is just so tight right now, absolutely crumbling. This is also the US, where the crowd is completely for Oudin.

But she is definitely a tough cookie.

Yes! She is winning! It takes a lot to come back 6-1! She will win! ^I think the one was a rank of her hotness? lol

First of all the one was a binary scale ranking.

Secondly she certainly can eventually be number one. She is very much like Justine Hennin.

She just won!:D

Wow her sister is really hot.

She just won a big match and you are focusing on her sister? lol

Kuznetsova in the next round most likely.

Venus lost BTW.

Does anyone know if Venus won? I knew she was losing 0-6 but I don’t know if she came back:/

venus lost, 0-6, 6-0.4-6. weird score, I know

predictions: men: federer women: Li Na (go china! woo!)

Did she really? No!:frowning:
Haha, maybe Li Na will get in. However, I think Serena will have something to say about that lol.

Round of 16 at Wimbledon, comeback in Davis cup, and now quarters of US Open, she’s having an amazing year. Kuznetsova will be a tough match-up though in the next round, but you never know. Also I know her sister and boyfriend from tournaments, but not her:(

Oudin has had a very good draw and at 17 she’s not really that young.

Nice post, though you should probably realize that she didn’t beat Venus.
= EPIC FAIL :D

^ i don’t know what you’re talking about

@TCBH - Nice draw?!?! Are you kidding me? I agree that for the round of 16, Petrova wasn’t that bad of a draw, despite being 13 in the world. However, look who she beat before that. First round - #36 in the world, which means she was one of the highest non-seeded players in the draw. Second round - #4 in the world Demetieva, who won the US Open Series, which means she had the best results on tour over the summer. Many pundits picks to win the whole tournament. Then Maria Sharapova, former world number one who wasn’t in her best form but is no slouch either. Maria was under-seeded because of her injuries but she had a good summer as well.

At 17 she’s not Capriati or Tracy Austin Young, and there are others who have good results at this age, but she’s still having a very successful young career.

I was replying to the person saying she could get to #1. She’s had a few upsets (Dementieva was obviously a very tough match, the other two not as much) but she’s not really one of the top prospects. I’m not saying it’s not a good story, but a lot of the hype simply comes from how poorly American tennis is doing right now.

um poorly? US has 2 out of top 3

How can you say she’s not a top prospect? Name me some other 17 year olds who will be ranked in the top 30 of the upcoming rankings.

The Williams sisters are doing well now, but their interest tends to wane after a bit. After them all there is is an upstart underdog from Georgia. On the men’s side there’s Roddick (who has underachieved the last few years) and … not much else. No American Men in the quarters for the first time since…? Poorly was an understatement.

No the men definitely suck but the women are fine. I thought Donald Young would do better than he has so far.
