Memorial Union Guestrooms vs. Lowell Inn

We're planning to visit in March and these look like relatively inexpensive options about as close as you can get to campus ;). Anyone stayed at either and willing to share their thoughts?

Many thanks!

Stayed at Lowell. Basically dorm like but fine and great location. MU is waiting on a major renovation so rooms might be built nicer but in need of work. Best is you can talk your way in is Fluno Center. Nicer and newer with more hotel like rooms, etc.

Thanks barrons, I’ll check it out!

We stayed in a two-room suite at the Memorial Union for D2’s SOAR in June '09. Tons of space, very old, kinda cool though. Faced out onto the Terrace and Lake Mendota–just beautiful. Very convenient, parked in the Lake St. garage. Think it was $89/night–don’t know what it would be now.

For SOAR next summer go ahead with the dorm rooms in Liz Waters for maximum convenience and saving money (also a refresher on dorm life- students and parents kept apart).
