The moving around you will get used to, although I don’t recall it being much of an issue. It might depend on the brand. You will feel better sleeping in memory foam, it made quite a difference to our joints and actual sleep. I can only speak of the Serta. It broke down close to a year.
We have a sleep number bed. This has a memory foam top with the air adjustment as well as the head and foot adjustment. Yes, it was expensive but so far after 2+ years worth it. It is easy to adjust your personal setting for firmness. The only issue we have is my wife’s side tends to lose pressure. She adjusts it every couple nights. There is a procedure to test it but you essentially have to tear the whole bed apart which I just don’t want to do. Overall, I’d recommend the bed.
I purchased a Serta Luxury 12" Gel at Sam’s two weeks ago for DD, queen, $499. It’s a memory foam and has a 20 year warranty plus Sam’s generous return policy. I found it on Consumer Reports. DD is very happy with it.
This is the second Sam’s Club mattress I’ve purchased in the last year. The other was Night Therapy 10" gel by the Zinus company, for DS.
Both have been excellent so far, according to the kids.
@Barbalot is your climate on the dry side? I noticed the Tempur-Pedic in my Vegas home is harder than my SoCal home, and they’re the same mattress, but still very comfortable.
