Memory...

I dunno, I like to scrutinize things, and I get kind of frustrated when I can only recall things vaguely afterwards. In terms of study habits, I always prepare the night before, sometimes hours before a test. While it enables me to do well, I don't really retain the information. However, it is a bit vexing when I can only recall the really important things that have happened in my past. I'd like to be able to delve into the past better. I was thinking maybe a JOURNAL!

As for school, when you guys study, depending on the topic, how long can you retain and verbally discuss a subject matter in detail?

Learn how to take advantage of the learning curve.

Is it sad that the first thing I thought of was "...All alone in the moonlight!" after seeing the title of the thread?

However, to answer your question, I think I remember it pretty well. I find that if I read the material at least twice, I remember it far longer than if I simply read through it once. I've always been pretty good at remembering things I read though...

terrible memory

One thing that I've done is try to remember my dreams after waking up. I keep a dream journal. It takes alot of practice to be able to recall your dreams every night but I am getting better. Getting used to recalling dreams, which are sometimes very vague and sketchy, makes recalling real-life events seem like a cakewalk. I think it honestly has made my memory at least a bit sharper. ALthough this may not apply to everyone.

i can normally retain the material until the test starts. then my mind goes blank. =/

okay that isn't completely true. I normally start studying the night before and forget it after the test. Though lately I've noticed studying one about 3 nights before and then again the night before works the best.
