Meningococcal Vaccination.

Does anyone know which vaccine is required for TAMU? CDC list bunch of them:

http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd-vac/mening/default.htm?s_cid=cs_000

Would be great if any doctor can chime in here.

Most colleges around here require menactra.

Menactra misses the B serotype, but the new Bexsero and Trumenba cover B - however, I don’t think many colleges require either of those B vaccines (yet).

Regarding TAMU, the form here doesn’t seem to specify:

If you want complete coverage, get Menactra and one of the B vaccines.

Also you might want to call student health and ask which ones they require (I’d say Menactra at minimum).

My son started two years ago, so I don’t know what the current requirements are. When he was 17, he had the MCV4 (Sanofi) booster and the MPV (Merck) boosters. These were satisfactory then.

You likely had a meningococcal vaccinations when you were little, so a booster should be all you need. Your doctor should know which one to give.

The Admissions web site says you can get the shot there. If all else fails, you could contact them and see what they give. http://shs.tamu.edu/contact
