I am on the hunt for a mens bathrobe for fiance's Christmas present and thought I would see if anybody here can recommend any one in particular. They sell them EVERYWHERE and I'd like to find a really nice one without going from store to store to compare...

I just want something super soft and warm, in blue or black, that will hold up in the washer and dryer. He wakes up in the morning to work on the computer before the heat kicks on and freezes himself.

E, it’s hard to say about another person’s tastes, but my guess is that you should get something that isn’t super-warm. I wouldn’t wear a thick bathrobe. Indeed, I’d prefer some drawstring pants. It’s a nice gift, but if he hasn’t asked for it specifically, don’t be too disappointed if he rarely wears it.

When you go on vacation does he like those robes? I gave a friend of mine and her new hubby matching robes from a lux resort they stayed at for their honeymoon where they loved the robes (and memories!).

Really plush, soft and so cuddly, and also comes in solid navy! Can’t beat the price, too! Don’t forget to get him sheepskin slippers so his feet would feel cozy while he types away. :)

I am also a robe-a-holic, I have 5 or 6 of them in different lengths and thicknesses. My favorite brand is Carole Hochman.

Ah memories. The first year we were married, I bought DH a short terry cloth velour bathrobe. He asked for it. I would LOVE to get him a new one, but despite getting used daily, the thing just won’t wear out. It came from LLBean.

Just checked the Macy’s website. They have a plush robe that sells for $70, on sale for $39.99, put the word Friends in the promo box and it is reduced to $29.99. Nice color selection. It is their own “Club Room” brand.

I got dh a great plush bathrobe from Macys - and he then said he preferred a terry cloth because he likes to get out of the shower and wear the robe. So DS2 got a great plush soft bathrobe that he wears all the time, and dh loves and wears terry cloth.

He got me a terry cloth robe and I found it way too heavy and bulky and traded to very light weight robe.

I saw the hood on the robe, and would think if he’s going to use the hood, or if its just always going to hang and weigh down the robe.

Dh also likes slipper socks from lands end for pulling on in the cold mornings.

I have the LL Bean woman’s fleece robe (I don’t know why they aren’t making it for men) it’s super warm and comfy. My husband likes to get up really early, but gets dressed a couple of hours later. We keep the house pretty cold so he wears his bathrobe every day in the winter. It’s not cold enough for a hood in our house though it might be useful when he goes out to get the newspaper.

I just ordered my husband a terry robe form Lands End for him to use for exiting the hot tub. He has another , but it is sort of micro-fiber type fabric and it doesn’t suit the purpose of the use he needs. He only uses robes when it’s cold and we get out of the hot tub…the warm , fleecy kind is not absorbent . If he had the kind of warm robe that I would choose to wear, he would never use it

Bought a very similar robe to the Costco fleece robe featured by BunsenBurner up thread for Mr O’s birthday a few weeks ago The color offered locally is different - here it’s a brown plaid which is much nicer than it sounds - and it cost less than $20. Very soft and DH loves it - he’s an inveterate robe wearer and changes immediately into robe and jammies as soon as he gets in from the office.

I cant remember where I purchased it but I dont think I bought the bathrobes at this price. Either Costco sold them at a huge discount or I bought it at BBB using the 20% off coupon. I prefer white robes and towels. He also has a midnight blue plaid robe but he prefers the white one. My H prefers that we both pick his clothes together so I dont give clothes or shoes to him as a surprise gift. That said, if the item is at a huge discount and looks good I still purchase the item for him.

All I can say is buy fleece because they hold up to washing better than the plush terry-like stuff. I have a huge fleece robe that is my best friend some days. It has held up for at least 15 years, maybe 20.

I wore a plaid flannel LL bean robe on weekend mornings for many years, my wife hated it. Last year for father’s day, she bought me one of the robes they give you at 5 star hotels: kind of suede cotton on the outside and soft terry on the inside. Switched to the new one and now we’re both happy.

Gotta say…my husband would NOT wear a plaid bathrobe. His is a solid color terry velour that is now 32 years old. It looks brand new and yes, he wears it every morning while he has breakfast.

My husband does not like the feel of fleece robes…not at all.

At one point, I considered buying him that nice LLBean chamois cloth robe. Do they still make that one? It is sort of like an extra heavy flannel…very durable, very warm, and soft enough to be comfortable.

Got this one for my husband at least five years ago. He wears it almost every day to make me a cup of tea, which he brings to me in bed. Obviously, I think the robe looks great on him.
