ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy men’s track & field team will host James Madison and Mount St. Mary’s in its final indoor home meet of the season on Saturday in Halsey Field House, starting at 11 a.m.

The Midshipmen are coming off victories against American, Penn and VCU in Annapolis last Saturday. Navy won eight events and posted seven IC4A-qualifying mark to accumulate 201 points. For the year, the Mids have qualified for the IC4A Championship in nine events.

Junior Dante Marshall (Hermitage, Pa.), named the Patriot League’s Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, won the triple jump with a distance of 48’0” (14.63 meters) and placed third in the long jump with a career-best mark of 22’10-1/2” (6.97 meters). He has met the IC4A standard in each of the last-two weeks in the triple jump, while his long jump mark was less than three inches away from qualification.

Classmates Paul Harris (Woodbury, Minn.) and Craig Meekins (Baldwin, N.Y.) each posted IC4A marks in claiming first and second, respectively, last weekend. Harris crossed the finish line in 1:53.00, while Meekins followed with a 1:54.42 clocking.

The Midshipmen also owned the top-two marks in two throwing events last Saturday. Junior Darryl Hunter (Des Moines, Iowa) won the shot put with a career-best effort of 55’3/4” (16.78 meters) and junior Andre Barber (Carrollton, Texas) placed second with a toss of 50’9-1/4” (15.47 meters). Sophomore Christopher Bordino (Gastonia, N.C.) won the weight throw with his 50’1/2” (15.25 meters) performance, while senior Nate Stein (Sandusky, Ohio) came in second with a throw of 49’1-1/2” (14.97 meters).

James Madison will be making their second visit to Annapolis this season on Saturday, as the Dukes competed in the Navy Invitational on Dec. 1. In that meet, Doron White won the weight throw and placed fourth in the shot put. Last weekend at the Virginia Tech Invitational, Rainer Fiala posted the seventh-fastest 300-meter dash time in school history with a time of 35.03 seconds.

Mount St. Mary’s also partook in the season-opening Navy Invitational, where the Mountaineers took home three top-two event performances. Mount St. Mary’s split its squad last weekend to compete at the Penn State Relays and Bucknell’s Gulden Relays.

Following this weekend’s action, Navy (3-1) will head on the road for the first time this season, traveling to the Penn State National Open on Jan. 26-27.
