After studying for long hours? How do you revive your brainpower so you can study more?

Caffeine doesn't work
eating whole foods doesn't seem to affect me
taking TV and internet breaks makes me tired
stretching doesn't do anything...

I would recommend sitting with your eyes closed and kind of semi-napping while listening to extremely relaxing music. My personal recommendation would be Music Has the Right to Children by Boards of Canada.

I know this is a bit... risque, but "self-abuse" is almost an hour or two garuntee for me. ^^;;

THe previous running tip is also a good one, but I haven't jogged for myself all year (maybe during breaks, but definately not to keep my studying)

I was actually browsing the "High School Life" forum for a thread like this. My question was going to be: Everyone has threads about how to pull an all-nighter, and I can do that with caffeine and all, but the problem with that is, even though I'm AWAKE, my brain is DEAD and it really absorbs nothing. Any suggestions?

if you have to pull an allnighter, but you will be at school the whole day, and afternoon, make some coffee in the middle of the night, put it in a bottle, and stick it in the freezer, so you can have cold coffee at lunch to keep you going the rest of the day....

You need an hour, set aside for naps, except don't do the whole "hour" nap thing -- break it up into 10 minute intervals with your alarm clock waking you up every 10 minutes.

Yeah, at around 9:30 I go for a 4.5 mile run (treadmill, not outside). I know that running late is really bad for me, but it really wakes me up... When I run, my brain usually functions until 1 or 2ish, as compared to 12ish... I know what you mean, though. At a certain point, I'm still awake, but I don't retain any knowledge.

if you want to do quality work, there really isn't a substitute for sleep.

if you don't have time to sleep, tough luck. i find that enormous quantities of caffeine are pretty close though, but you can't do it for more than 36-48 hours, max.
