so unfortunately my GPA in my soph/jr year as been lower than it hsould be. there is a reason for this, but i dont know whether or nott o mention it in my NYU ap and hope they will see my GPA was high but went down significantly (From frosh to soph year), but then went up significantly again (from jr to sr year). will they look at it as an excuse? or is it okay to mention it, but only in 1-2 sentences?

thanks!

i've heard that it's best that you tell your counselor and have them explain why your grades dropped... i don't know if that's the best way to approach or not..... hopefully this helps!

DON'T write an essay about it. DO NOT do anything more than what is mentioned above-tell your counselor, and have them write a pseudo-paragraph about it in their rec. What very likely got me rejected was my "package" that was very focused around what made my GPA low-because people DO get accepted with my GPA.

Don't make the same mistake I did...
