Mercer University

I'm not getting any response from the Mercer section, so I'll put my question here. I know most students at Mercer are in-state so do most go home on the weekends and over very short breaks? I'm from Michigan and considering Mercer. Will I be basically alone on the weekends? Is there still lots of stuff going on on campus?

Not all are in-state, I know 2 that are out of state, so something must go on there over the weekend.

The great majority of students are from Georgia, but they are beginning to get more from students from out-of-state. They would love to see a student from Michigan. I think that at the beginning of freshman year you have a lot of freshmen that go home frequently and then it slows down.

When we visited last year, we met students from Florida and Tennesee. They are really making an effort to get a more geographically diverse student body. They are very generous with merit money.

My daugher spent 2 years @ Mercer and for the most part enjoyed her time there. She is a Ga. native. Being that she was a Piano/pre med student she had plenty to do on the weekends. There is usually something going on in either the fine arts or sports. Macon is a fairly large city with lots to do as well. She has indicated to me that usually about 1/2 pf the student body were on-campus during the weekends. And reflecting upon the time I spent there, I would say the same. Mercer is an excellent school and once one finds there niche w/in the student body they usually do fine. On the fall and spring breaks most students do go home or to a freinds home. I know one weekend my daughter brougt home a international student from Japan. It is like anything else, it is what you make of it. mercer is small enough that the opportunities are available for all.
