Mercer University

I was wondering if i could get any information on Mercer. From what i have read so far it seems like a good school? How is the social scene, and how are the people?

Mercer’s fine, but it has a twin 30 miles to the north in Georgia College & State University. They’re very similar schools, similar missions, similar sizes, but Georgia College’s campus life is higher-rated by its students and it’s very popular among Georgians. At Mercer, tuition, room and board run $37,000; at Georgia College, it’s $13,000 in-state (even less if you’re a Georgian with a B average who qualifies for free tuition) and $26,000 out of state.

Thanks for that info. My niece has already been accepted to Mercer (but will defer for Reserve training), so this is interesting info to pass along to her since she is still considering schools.

Mercer has ties to the Baptist church. They are not as close as they once were, but it’s still a factor. The campus is racially diverse, but there is much homogenity (spelling?) of thought.

It is fairly generous with scholarships. They have a great nursing program, which is located in Atlanta. They also have a very good pharmacy program and many kids opt for Mercer engineering with scholarships rather than GaTech.

Most of my information is from 2006. My d had a teacher in high school who had a daughter that attended and graduated from Mercer, she had nothing but great things to say about her daughter’s experience. Nancy Grace is a graduate (not sure if it’s undergrad or law school.)

Thanks this really helps. I will keep that in mind. Also how is the city of Macon?
