Merit aid ideas?

As far as I could tell, the GWU merit scholarship for students who do not apply for/qualify for need-based aid is $15K, which is a nice discount but still leaves a hefty bill.

Other, more generous, merit scholarships are restricted to applicants who qualify for need-based aid as well.

The amounts of the scholarships are ambiguous from the website. [GW Bulletin 2010-2011](<a href=“The George Washington University Bulletin | The George Washington University”>The George Washington University Bulletin | The George Washington University). I’m not really sure of the amount except that I know of a student in a similar situation who goes there and his parents said they were very generous with merit money. I never asked for a dollar amount, however in the context of how they were speaking it didn’t sound like $15,000 would have been satisfactory.

It would depend. For a school like Occidental, I would want a full-tuition scholarship, but for Claremont, for example, as long as the price would be within 35,000 a year it would be fine.
For my extra statistics:

I’m looking for a job to do over the summer, or an internship or volunteering, but my opportunities are limited due to family travel (we travel extensively).
Also, a summer course on Anthropology from BYU Online.
And I got a 205 on the PSAT in California, so my chances of getting NMSF are really low.

And, do you think I have competitive stats for a full tuition scholarship from Vanderbilt?

Oops, sorry about that, I missread what you wrote about NMF in your original post. As for Vandy, all I can say is that you have excellent stats and the decisions probably depend on how well applications are presented. Look at the Vandy website, they may have stats/bio of students who previously received these scholarships. That could give you some idea about what to emphasize on your application and how strong you are next to prior recipients.

Does anyone know about Oxy’s merit aid positions, or USC? Another school I am also interested in merit aid in is UNC-Chapel Hill.
My stats for any of the full tuition awards, from Robertson to Pogue.

I would HIGHLY recommend you consider the University of Miami! I wanted to go the Vanderbilt, Davidson, or Rice, but none of them offered me enough money. However, I got almost full tuition at Miami (all merit!) plus membership into their Foote Fellows program, where you get extra advising, higher preference for courses and housing, and all general education requirements waived. There are no extra scholarship applications, they just use your common app to consider you for merit aid. I was invited to the Singer Scholarship weekend just based on my common app alone. It’s definitely worth applying to, especially since there are no supplement or scholarship essays :)

Anyone else? xD
What were your stats for Miami? I got recommended it as well.
Updated stats:
770 Chem SAT II
790 USH SAT II
