I was accepted into pitt november 14, and a few days ago into the honors college, so im anxiously waiting to see if i will get any merit aid (3.74/4.33 gpa, 1400 sat) because I feel like its possible i might get some.

However, I feel like they will only send letters to those receiving aid, not to those who arent saying something like "just so you know, we arent giving you any money." just wanted to know if anyone received a merit aid denial letter or if those just plain dont exist.

i realize this question may appear stupid lol, but im very eager to see if i get any merit aid and i dont want to wait around for a letter that may never come!

The “no merit aid” letters don’t exist to my knowledge… something that really sucks about the whole process. I’ve been talking to a few other CC members on the main 2014 thread about the delay in scholarship letters this year. It appears that a few applicants (myself included) will be reviewed for scholarships later on in the process (for me that’s apparently December). Just be patient while waiting for merit aid… just because you don’t get a letter within 2-4 weeks of your admissions decision doesn’t mean you aren’t getting anything. However, you also will not be getting a letter telling you otherwise… unfortunately.

I don’t think these denial letters exist anyway, but there must be some way for you to know that you don’t get any (deadline?). I remember that you can appeal your scholarship decision and ask to get re-reviewed, which implies that you need to know you were rejected.

I don’t believe they have ever sent a letter saying you are not getting a merit scholarship. They say they will consider you and notify you if you have been selected. People have appealed but don’t know how successful they have been. Since I have been on this forum, the numbers of students applying with high stats seem to have skyrocketed so I’m sure they have a greater pool of students to choose from. In the past, if you haven’t received a scholarship letter within 2-4 weeks from your acceptance letter, chances are slim that you will receive one. With what OAFA has been telling people, who knows what they are really doing this year.

I’m wondering if they review later for the $10,000 OOS ($2,000 IS) scholarships because the only thing anyone has mentioned receiving so far is the full tuition. I’m just praying my daughter gets at least the $10,000 OOS. She got accepted to A&S 3 weeks ago. SAT 1410/2140. ACT 34.

thank you alll for your insight! ill keep my hopes up and call them in a few weeks if i dont get any mail, but i dont want to be too pushy heh heh
