Ok so heres the deal. I've take the ACT three times, I got into Tulane but they used the lowest of my scores, a 29. When they sent the acceptance I didn't get any merit aid, but today I got news that I got a 33 in December, what do I do? Do you believe its possible that if they receive my 33 that they can re access me for merit aid? Is it worth a shot? I'll probably email their office anyway, but I think I'll get a quicker response here.

you may get a quicker response here…but we can’t award you merit aid. Absolutely contact the office…call and follow up with an email or letter. Look up your admissions counselor on the Tulane website and work directly with him/her. 33 is an outstanding score and if you have a strong GPA, challenging classes, and EC’s…I would think Tulane will reconsider. I don’t know where else you applied to, but do the same elsewhere, and, if merit aid is important, you may also have a better chance by submitting applications at other schools before their respective deadlines. Best of luck

Totally agree with lewmin, and I would only add that if you can honestly tell them that with decent merit scholarship Tulane becomes your #1 choice, then that helps. Don’t know if you are still waiting on other schools. But any school feels more generous towards a good student from an area where they have had successful students before, which describes you.

Ooops, part of last sentence got left out by mistake. Meant to say:

But any school feels more generous towards a good student from an area where they have had successful students before, which describes you, if they know they will enroll.

thanks. i sent an email to my rep right after posting here. I hope they give me at least the 15 that would help alot. Funny thing is they let me in with a 29 but at the time i had already gotten a 31 that didnt get sent in. oh well we’ll see. happy holidays!

In your reply you mentioned that you sent an email. I am sure the Tulane admission offices are closed for the holidays, but it’s enormously important that you follow your email up with a phone call and keep calling until you connect with your admission counselor. They are a great bunch of people and are much more likely to go to bat for you if they know something about the person behind the statistics. Good luck!
