merit aid sophomore year?

<p>If a freshmen does not get a merit scholarship when admitted to the university, could they get one in their sophomore year given they obtain a high gpa?</p>

<p>No. There are no merit scholarships for students besides those you get when you get in. I talked to one of the financial aid people and they basically said that since all the Carnegie Mellon students were super-qualified and good students blah blah blah, they do not give out merit scholarships. I got Dean’s List last semester and there’s nothing that they give you (except a mug, which I still haven’t picked up.)</p>

<p>AnnaSmith, the Financial Assistance guide says, “Academic scholarships are only awarded to incoming freshmen during the admission process and renewed annually if the student meets the cumulative 2.0 QPA requirement”. At least that’s what they claim…</p>
