I know that the Presidential scholarship is $7k; anyone know about specific $ amounts for the NMF or Cunningham scholarship? I will need to get COA down to 20k at least to afford Earlham, so if that is impossible, I don't want to waste time and money in applying.

My daughter and I just returned from a visit to Earlham and she absolutely loved it. We realized she'd visited 13 colleges and this was the first one that really called out to her. I'm also curious about aid. She received a Presidential Scholarship of $9,000/yr. (think they have some at 7k and some at 9k) and we were told she'd hear from the financial aid office by the end of the week. She also applied and was accepted to both Beloit and Hendrix, and their merit awards were much higher but she really hopes to attend Earlham. From what I've read on their website and on CC it doesn't seem that they do much more with merit unless I've missed something. I'll be curious to see what the financial aid award letter looks like. I'll also try to post a trip report in the next few days - it was a great visit!

Earlham has become an incredible struggle for my family to afford. I got the Presidential Scholarship for $9,000, but I'm not eligible for the Cunningham and I think the National Merit is probably a non-renewalble $2,000 award. Considering Earlham's costs, these scholarships don't do much to make it feasible. They are very focused on meeting your need, though, if you have any of that according to the standards...

Do you know how much the Cunningham is worth, standardprints?

With Earlham, I spent a lot of time Googling the name of the scholarship I was interested in + Earlham College, since Earlham's website is pretty obtuse about giving any details. Here's what I found about the Cunningham scholarship:

"This scholarship ($9,000.00 renewable) is awarded to any African-American or Latino student who does not receive a Presidential Honors Scholarship, but meets one of the following:

(1) a 3.5 GPA (on a 4.0 sclae);

(2) ranking in the top 20% of his/her high school class; or

(3) SAT composite of 1140 or an ACT total of 100 on the four subsections"

this is from Ventures Scholars Program | Member Institution Profiles, by the way.

Ah--so Asian doesn't count as multicultural at Earlham. Anyway, looks like the scholarships don't stack--and 9k off a 40k COA is nowhere near what I'm seeking. Thank you very much for the information!
