MyD just got accepted to AU Regular Decisions. Can anyone tell me the maximum amount of merit aid offered?

For the prior two years, the Presidential award has been $20,000 a year.

My ds was awarded a Frederick Douglass scholarship for $22k/year. I thought they were only full rides, but that’s what it said.

AU has been changing the $ amount of the various scholarships, perhaps to be able to give out more scholarships, although for less money each. The year before my daughter was accepted, the Presidential was $27,500 a year. Beginning with her year, it dropped down to $20,000. I did not know they changed the Frederick Douglass scholarship.

I was offered the Presidential Scholarship for 18,000 per year. I’m not sure if there’s a range for this schol or if that’s the set amount.

My daughter received $10k/anum, so it’s a variable amount.
Just checked, and it’s a Dean’s scholarship, not Presidential.

anyone mind posting the stats of those who got merit aid?

Am I a bad parent if I don’t precisely know?
My daughter doesn’t need a lot of oversight, just the occasionally helping hand.
Here ACT is 31, SAT ~2050, GPA ~ 3.85.
Nearly all AP courses and lots of extracurricular activities, leadership etc.

haha no I think that makes you a thankfully not overly-involved parent. she’s obviously doing fine! haha thanks

The Presidential Scholarship is a fixed amount each year. For the past 2 years it was $20,000. New Jersey Mom indicated that the year before that it was $27,500. Now it appears that they have reduced it to $18,000. It seems that this year they are trying to give financial aid to more students, with a higher emphasis on need-based aid, so the dollar amount of the merit scholarships has naturally gone down.

I don’t like to post exact stats for my kids, but I’ll share that his one-time SAT is 2250+, has excellent leadership and ECs and is a URM. School doesnt rank but is an AP Scholar with Distinction. He applied for the full-ride Douglass so maybe that made a difference?

2140 4.6 weighted. Lots of volunteer. Speak three languages.
Excellent recommendations. Leadership positions. Part-time job. Ex-change Student.
I received the Presidential $20,000 + $5,500 government loan, honors program. I will probably not be attending. I was also accepted to a top honors & International business program at another University. When I graduate I will have $26,000 in loans vs. $130,000 at American.

I got $20000 presidential and honors program with SAT of 2180, ACT of 33, 4th in class, SAT II in chemistry bio-m and us history of 790, 770, and 740 respectively. Fairly large number of EC and good recommendations.

I got $8,000 Dean’s Scholarship, and $2,000 Champions of Excellence Scholarship.

GPA 3.85 UW/4.72 W
Rank - 7/295
29 ACT

I’m totally happy with this small scholarship considering that I also got $22,000 AU grant, $5,645 Pell grant, $1,800 FWS and $5,500 loans.
AU was very generous with me.

My son was awarded the Presidential ($20,000) and Honors (plus a personal letter from Dir. of Admin, impressive). SATs were 800 CR, 620 M, 700 W, ACT 31, great recommendations and essay, not a lot of ECs or leadership. Guess we’ll go visit again :)

I was accepted into the AU class of 2017, but there wasn’t any mention of merit awards in my admission letter. Could anyone tell me where to go to find out the financial awards packages? Thanks!

Got the Dean’s Scholarship and the Champions of Excellence for MockTrial, but it seems to me that the amounts for the Dean’s Scholarship vary as I was awarded $16k annually.
To elbarcelos: I’m pretty sure that they send all merit scholarship notifications in the acceptance package… Or at least that was the impression that I got; then again I’m certainly not the expert.
