Just wondering if PSU hands out any merit aid, other than what those in the honors college receive.... The university's website doesn't seem clear on this. Thanks for any info anyone can give.

Not that I’ve ever heard of, that’s why the website doesn’t talk about it. My friend was the valedictorian of our class, which had about 400 students. He never applied to Schreyer, and is paying full tuition, sans a couple state grants and private scholarships.

Thanks, PSUChemE15! That is what I thought. :(

There was a new program that started this year (Provost Award). See this prior CC discussion: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1430588-penn-state-provosts-award.html

Theojohn, thanks for directing me to this info. Athough it appears the program mentioned may not be continuing, one can hope. My daughter is trying to decide between several schools, and the merit aid she is offered at each school will play a big part in her decision.

Are you out of state ?
Just apply early.

XtremePower, no we are instate. The other schools that my daughter is considering offers merit aid - Ohio State and Univ. of Alabama.

what aid is available to honors kids? How about OOS aid?

OOS people do get more aid however we don’t have any statistics data to prove it.

Honors kids get $4000 per year.
