I think I am a relatively good applicant for UF (2290SAT, 5.1GPA, top 3% of class). Do I have a shot at getting any merit aid from UF? Do they even give any merit scholarships?

From UF website:
There are three tiers of Presidential Scholarships. The dollar amounts are reflective of the awards made to members of the 2013 freshman class:

■Presidential Scholarship: $5,000 per year
■Presidential Gold Scholarship: $8,000 per year
■Presidential Platinum Scholarship: $10,000 per year

I am curious about the typical stats of a merit scholarship recipient at UF, too.

Although the vast majority of UF Freshman receive Bright Futures Scholarships only a small fraction of in-state students receive other merit scholarships. I know one student who received a merit scholarship in 2011 and that was at $8,000 per year with a weighted GPA of 5.70, SAT of 2290 with a very high class ranking. Getting into UF is difficult enough, counting on a merit scholarship while possible is a longshot for almost everyone.
