My DS was accepted but no merit aid was mentioned. He is trying to decide between Elon and another school that offered a generous amount of aid. I called Elon admissions and they said that they don’t accept requests other than what has been already offered. Many schools have an appeal process, such as a form online. My DS has had a solid senior year and I feel that needs to be further considered. Is this possible, does anyone have experience with this?
Was this a reasonable question?
Elon has merit that is based on scores and grades given at the point of admission. After that unless offered a program like Fellows or Change Makers there is no merit. If you qualify for financial aid and they have not met your EFC you can ask there. They do not meet EFCs (usually) but they might be able to increase your aid a little. As far as reasonable question some schools have more merit to offer so they can increase but Elon does not have as much to offer.
@MinnieFan Thanks for the info. Does this mean merit aid is dropped after freshman year unless accepted into Fellows?
@1stTimeThruMom Presidential and Engagement scholarships are renewable annually.
