Merit aid

How much do they normally give out to students per year? This is a really expensive college, more than MIT! I got 14.5K/year but I hear about people getting full rides.

If you go to WPI's web site you can find their statement regarding this but from memory I believe it states that merit awards range from $10,000 to $25,000/year.

It ranges as low as $5000 :-(

Does that 25k cover need based aid as well?

^no, its solely merit based from my understanding. i got 14k in merit scholarship, and they havn't found my FAFSA until like 2 days after they filed the merit aid.
i have EFC 0,so im probably looking at some generous need based aid, almost full ride iguess

Dork as Ren stated. We are only discussing merit scholarships. They are separate from need based financial aid.

Ren, if you think they are going to give you $36 in grants, you are dreaming! Maybe a little bit in grants, but lots of loans that you have to pay back and work study.. not exactly a free ride.

I just received a $20,000 merit scholarship (5k each year). still waiting to hear about need-based aid.

Ohhh, thanks for clarifying that up. Can’t wait for RD letters to come out! :D
