Merit aid

Does anyone have experience with merit aid from W&M?What type of ACT and SAT scores do they require? Do they give National Merit Student any type of scholarships? Thanks for your help-

There is very little merit aid at W & M, and most finaid is reserved for VA residents. Here’s a link to the webpage about scholarships: [William & Mary -*Scholarships](http://www.wm.edu/admission/financialaid/typesofaid/scholarships/index.php)

To answer your question about qualifications, here’s some info about Murray Scholars, W & M’s most selective scholarship:

If you search the W & M website, you can find additional info about the current Murray Scholars. They’re a highly impressive group.

yea… W&M has very limited merit aid, unfortunately. They also have Monroe Scholars, but they get research money, not help with tuition.

Thanks for the information-- she is a National Merit semi-finalist - and is hoping to go to finalist-- she would like to receive some merit aid wherever she goes -to decrease the debt at the end of her four years before med school or graduate school

W&M considers all students who apply for admission for any merit scholarship we have available so all a student has to do to be considered for merit money is make an application to W&M. We do however focus our efforts on need-based financial aid rather than merit-based scholarships so only about 50 students per year enter with merit scholarships (plus another 100 with the Monroe award).

We do not participate in the National Merit program so if a student is a semifinalist or finalist the Committee will see that and appreciate the level of that award during application review but does not award any merit money associated with that program or award.
